United Kingdom Telegraph Co

From Graces Guide

1851 The United Kingdom Electric Telegraph Company was established by Act of Parliament but did not become operational until July 1860.

1869 It was argued by a shareholder of London and Provincial Telegraph Co that the Acts of Parliament to enable take-over by the Post Office as a going concern only applied to 3 companies (Electric and International Telegraph Co, British and Irish Magnetic Telegraphic Co, and United Kingdom Telegraph Co) but not the London and Provincial[1].

1870 Taken over by the Post Office
