Victor William Henry Towns (1898-1962) of E. R. Watts and Son and Hilger and Watts

1898 Born at Clapham the son of William Henry Towns, a Pawn Broker.

1929 Married in Bootle to Hannah Jean Porter

1962 Died. 'A man who was responsible for the great advance in the surveying and meteorological, field at Hilger and Watts Ltd., 123 Camberwell rd. Mr. Victor Towns died at his home in Dulwich, on Tuesday. He was 63. Mr Towns of 126 Court lane was made a director of E. R. Watts and Sons Ltd. in 1930 and when the firm was merged with Hilger's in 1948 he was appointed technical director. Born in Clapham. Mr. Towns was engaged on very important war work in 1939-45. He joined Watts in 1918 after leaving the Royal Flying Corps. Mr. Towns had always been interested in Camberwell civic life - at one time serving on the National Savings Committee of the borough. The cremation will take place at Streatham Park Crematorium today (Thursday) — Mr. Towns leaves a widow and two children. a son and a daughter.'[1]
