1817 Jesse Vye, with his mother, opened the first store. Jesse had eleven children. His 4th child Frederick took over the business. Frederick died age 47 and the business was continued by his son George. George's daughter married James Taylor and they took over the business in 1917.[1]

1936 Vye and Son, The Kentish Family Grocer. 40 shops in East and Mid-Kent.[2]

1951 Limited company formed

1955 Acquired by Home and Colonial Stores[3] which later became Allied Suppliers
