W. S. Atkins and Partners
W.S. Atkins plc (commonly known as Atkins) is a British multinational engineering, design, planning, project management and consulting services company headquartered in Epsom, Surrey.
1938 founded by William S. Atkins as W. S. Atkins & Partners, with offices in Westminster, London.
In its early years the practice specialised in civil and structural engineering design work but expanded rapidly after World War II into specialist services in town planning, engineering sciences, architecture and project management.
1996 W.S. Atkins was admitted to the London Stock Exchange and began trading as WS Atkins plc.
1996 Also acquired Faithful+Gould, a cost and project management consultancy firm
By 2016, Atkins had become the UK's largest engineering consultancy, as well as the world's 11th largest global design firm. It employed approximately 18,000 staff based in 300 offices across 29 countries and had undertaken projects in over 150 countries.
In July 2017, Atkins was acquired by the Canadian construction firm SNC-Lavalin in a £2.1 billion deal
