1880s Mr. Walker moved from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, to Leicester to take over an established butcher's shop in the high street.

1948 Mr Walker, a pork butcher in Leicester, began making potato crisps when all of his meat was sold early in day because of rationing.

1971 Sold their crisps business Walkers to US-based Standard Brands

The pie making business became the largest distributor of Melton Mowbray pork pies.

1986 Samworth Brothers purchased the pie making company of Walker and Son.

Walkers Crisps were acquired by PepsiCo

1989 The company became Walkers Crisps Holdings Ltd

Smiths Food Group was acquired by PepsiCo

1992 The company became Walkers Smiths Snack Foods Ltd

1995 The company became Walkers Snack Foods Ltd

by 2006 Walkers Crisps dominated the crisps market in the UK (45.5 percent)
