1915 Died. 'The death has occurred as the result of a motor accident Easter Road, Leith, of Mr Walter Gowans, civil engineer, residing at 65 Lorne Street, Leith, who was the eldest son of the late Sir James Cowans, a former Dean of Guild of Edinburgh. He was for number of years in the employment of Messrs John Best and Sons, Edinburgh and was engaged in connection with the construction of the Talla Reservoir and other public works'.[1]
