Walter Jones (1846-1924) M.I.Mech.E., J.P., Founder and Senior Director of Jones and Attwood, Ltd., Heating and Hydraulic Engineers(1922).

1846 Born the son of John Jones, a Blacksmith.

1876 Married to Catherine Elizabeth Noke

1901 Residing at Hollycroft, Stourbridge: Walter Jones (age 55 born Stourbridge), Mechanical Engineer and Heater Specialist (Employer and Widower). With three daughters and son Ernest R. Jones (age 15).[1]

1911 Residing at Holly Mount, Stourbridge: Walter Jones (age 65 born Stourbridge), Heating and Mechanical Engineer and Ironfounder (Employer and Widower). With daughter Evelyn Mary and a nephew and niece.[2]

1922 Address: The Uplands, Stourbridge

1924 Died. 'By the death last night of Mr. Walter Jones, of Stourbridge, in his 70th year, the borough has lost one who for many years was a leading figure in the business life of the district, and at one time head of the towns governing body. He was a strong supporter of the movement which resulted in the town purchasing the gasworks and also of the movement which resulted in the acquisition for the public of the waterworks now managed by the Stourbridge and District Water Board. He also took a prominent share in the agitation for public baths, Mr. Jones, was first chairman of the District Council, was elected to that office for the three succeeding years. He gave the town the handsome bandstand in the playing fields, and last sear presented to the borough land for playing fields in St. Mary's Ward. He was the founders of the firm of Jones and Attwood, heating engineers, and until his retirement in December 1922 was managing director and chairman. He was president of the South Staffordshire Iron and Steel Institute and of the Institution of Heating and Ventilating Engineers. Since 1922 Mr. Jones has been a member of the Stourbridge Bench.'[3]
