1922 Letter 'Sir,— I notice in your paper of yesterday's date a cartoon on the front page "The Hon. Member for Moscow, Mr. W. Newbold," and beg to point out that, as I am the only W. Newbold in the London Directory, and my name having been known all over the country amongst engineers and machinery merchants for the last thirty-seven years, I shall be glad if you will notify your readers that the "Member for MOSCOW" has no connection with Walter Newbold and Co., Ltd., otherwise it may do us considerable damage, as I am known in the trade as Mr. W. This 1910 zoomable photograph[5] shows a punching and shearing machine bearing the name Walter Newbold & Co London, taken in the works of Henry Gittus and Co of Manchester. Did Gittus make it for Newbold? They did make similar machines for F. J. Edwards.
