WALTER NORMAN CRISP served his apprenticeship from 1927 to 1932 with Messrs. Clarke, Chapman and Company, Ltd., of Gateshead, and remained with the firm as a draughtsman for a further two years. From 1935 to 1937 he was in succession, draughtsman to Messrs. Vickers-Armstrong at Wrayford; Messrs. Taylor Stoker and Company, Ltd., engineers, London, and the Mitchell Engineering Company, also of London.
He then joined the staff of the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield, and in the following year was made shop manager. He was made works manager in 1941 and held this position with distinction until the time of his death, which occurred at Newcastle upon Tyne on 19th February 1946, at the early age of thirty-four. Mr. Crisp was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1935 and was transferred to Associate Membership in 193g.
