1856 The large bell for the Westminster Clock Tower (commonly called Big Ben) was cast in the furnaces of Warner, Lucas and Barrett by Warner and Sons of Crescent Foundry, London.[1], and one of the quarter bells. [2]

1865 The Norton Iron Co was formed for the purpose of purchasing the plant, freehold property, stock-in-trade, and goodwill of the firm of Messrs. Warners, Lucas and Barrett, of Norton, near Stockton-on-Tees, and of working the same. The sale was largely a result of the death of Mr Lucas of the Coal Exchange who had a large holding in the firm[4]
