Wellington Bridge

Wellington Suspension Bridge also known as Chain Bridge is a suspension bridge over the River Dee at Aberdeen.

1829-31 Built by engineers John Smith (masonry work) and Samuel Brown (ironwork).

The bridge is designed with flat-link chains supporting a steel (originally cast iron) framed wooden deck.

1886 An elliptical arch on the N side was added.

1930 The wrought iron suspender rods were replaced in steel at the same time the deck was strengthened.
