Former head master of Exeter School, Mr. William Allison Cunningham, 15, The Beacon, Exmouth, will be buried at Littleham Church this afternoon. Mr. Cunningham, who was aged 83, was the first layman to be appointed head master of Exeter School. That was in 1888, and he retired at the end of 1911, after devoted and distinguished service. Before he went to Exeter he was assistant master at Bromsgrove School, and latest at Uppingham.
For years was a governor of the Royal Albert Memorial, Exeter, resigning 1937, when he took residence at Exmouth. He was also for some time joint hon. secretary Exeter Diocesan Conference. He leaves a widow.
