c1862 Born the son of Charles Brakefield, a lime-burner and general contractor, of Charing.

1897 April. An engineer who while working on a compressed air carriage at Charing, Kent, was injured when it exploded. Possibly the only car in the country running on compressed air.[1] Detailed report with photographs.[2]
