MR. WILLIAM DENHAM
Halifax Engineer's Funeral
The funeral took place this morning of Mr. William Denham, a well-known local engineer and worker for the Halifax Infirmary, who died at the residence of his son, Briar Dene, Mingworth, on Tuesday. .... In a short appreciation. the Rev. J. Rogers spoke of the steadfastness of Mr. Denham's faith, which revealed itself in all phases of his activity. This faith forcibly brought out those characteristics of courage, strength, tenacity and vision. Success did not spoil him; he was the same old William Denham of former days — simple-hearted, kind, lovable, generous, true, ever eager and willing to respond to the calls of both public and private life. Many homes were made happier and brighter because of the human kindness that he showed there. He always tried to water the seeds of kindness in the lives and hearts of his fellow-people. Some 120 employes of the firm of Denham's Engineering Co., Ltd., which had been closed for the day, headed the cortege and walked from Illingworth to Stanuary. The following foremen of the firm acted as bearers: Messrs. A. Sutcliffe, W. Swailes. T. Woodhead and R. Berry. ...' [1]
