WILLIAM EDWARD MOLTLSDALE died at his residence, "The Red Rocks," Hoylake, Cheshire, on January 20, 1924, at the age of sixty-one years.
A native of Liverpool, he was educated at Liverpool College, and subsequently studied engineering at the University College, Liverpool.
He went to Singapore in 1894, and was for some time manager of the Tangjong Pagar Docking Co., a large and prosperous concern, which was afterwards taken over by the Colonial Government.
On his return from the East he commenced business in Liverpool, and later opened an office in London.
He was chairman of the Home Advisory Committee of the Straits Trading Company, tin smelters, of Singapore, and devoted a great deal of his business time to its affairs. He served on the Tin and Tungsten Research Committee of the Imperial Mineral Resources Bureau, and was also a member of the various technical societies, including the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers and the Institution of Electrical Engineers. He had wide and varied business interests apart from the metallurgical world, and also took a keen interest in educational work and child welfare.
Mr. Moulsdale was elected a member of the Institute of Metals on May 2, 1918, and served upon the British Empire Membership Development Committee.
