1865 Apprenticed to J. Watt and Co of Soho Foundry, Birmingham
1867 Joined the office of Mr Bateman FRS
1871 Resident engineer on construction of Aberdeen Waterworks
1873 Engineer in charge of construction of Colne Valley Waterworks and extensions
c.1873 Married Josephine; they had 3 children[1]
Prepared plans for waterworks in Newcastle and Gateshead
1877 Proposed for membership of Inst Civil Engineers by J. Frederick Bateman
1890 Independent practice at Victoria St, London
1905 Member of IMechE
1912 Resigned from IMechE

WILLIAM FOX, born at Plymouth in 1847, died at Upper Norwood on the 14th June, 1913, aged 66.
Trained under Mr. J. F. La Trobe Bateman, Past-President, he remained with him until 1889, after which he commenced consulting practice in Westminster. In that capacity he designed and carried out water supply and sewerage works for Douqlas, Bath, Gloucester, Aberdare, Mountain Ash, Port Talbot, and other places. He also designed similar works for Vera Cruz and Tampico, and reported upon water-supplies for Teneriffe and Aberdeen. He was retained by the London County Council in connection with the Welsh water scheme, and also acted on behalf of other public bodies.
Mr. Fox was elected a Member of The Institution on the 4th December, 1877.
