1881 Exhibition of Smoke-Abating Appliances at South Kensington: '.....Messrs. W. Green and Company, Sheffield (who are manufacturing a down draught, hopper fed, closed furnace appliance, invented and patented by Mr. J. M. Stanley, late of this town).'[2]
