1891 William Holzapfel 32, paints manufacturer, employer, lived in Newcastle upon Tyne with Kate Holzapfel 31, Fred Holzapfel 4, John Holzapfel 2, and sister in law, Rose Arey 34[3]

1901 Living at Mount Tavy, Tavistock, Devon: William Holzapfel (age 42 born Germany). With his wife Kate Holzapfel (age 41 born Holton, Suffolk) and their two sons Frederick Holzapfel (age 14 born Newcastle Upon Tyne) and John Holzapfel (age 12 born Gateshead). Two servants.[4]

With his wife Kate Holzapfel (age 51 born Hotton, Suffolk) and their son Frederick Holzapfel (age 24 born Newcastle), Engineer (Steam - Shipbuilders). Also his nephew George Holzapfel (age 22 born Annerley, London), Engineer (Gas Engines). Three servants.[5]

He died before 1931 when his wife, Kate, died[6]
