1774 May 10th. Born at Cleish, Kinross-shire.

Apprenticed with Joseph Conacher in Edinburgh

Worked with John Rennie (the elder) of Blackfriars while he was working on drainage for the fens

1802 Married in Wyberton, Boston, to Ann Cicel

1807 Birth of son William Howden the younger

1851 Living at Foundry House, Witham Town, Boston: William Howden (age 76 born Scotland), Engineer and Iron Founder employing 21 men and 3 boys. With his wife Ann Howden (age 67 born Great Coates). Also his grandson Robert Howden (age 12 born Boston). One servant.[1]

1860 May 7th. Died.
