William Matthews Hodges (c1859-1938)

1901 June. Of Tottenham Street, Tottenham Court Road. Purchased the business of the London Motor Co and will trade as the London Motor Works. He was previously manager of the London Motor Van and Wagon Co.[1].

1904 'HODGES, William Matthews, 2, Edith Villas, West Kensington, London, W. Cars: 8-h.p. Daimler and 3.5-h.p. Briere. Total distance travelled since becoming a motorist: 15,000 miles. Commenced his motoring career in the early part of 1897, when he was appointed sec. and manager of the London Motor Van and Wagon Co.; he subsequently acquired the business, which he sold in October, 1901, to the Daimler Motor Co., eventually becoming their London works' manager. Club: A.C.G.B. & I.' [2]

1911 Living at The Woodlands, Rose Bank, Isleworth: William Mathews Hodges (age 52 born Balham), Company Manager - Motor Car Co - Employer. With his wife Mary Louisa Hodges (age 39 Great Dunmow). Also his niece Dorothy (?) Barber (age 16 born Hampstead). Two servants.[3]

1938 April 19th. Died.
