1836 Born in Handsworth, son of William Murdock (1811-1848) and his wife Sarah; great grandson of William Murdock

1860 Married Emily Ann Lee in Tranmere

1861 William Mallabey Murdock 25, engineer, lived in Handsworth with Emily Ann Murdock 26[1]

1865 William Mallabey Murdock, Manager, Eagle Foundry, Northampton.[2]

1872 of Barrow Iron Works

1875 of Barrow Haematite Steel Works, Barrow-in- Furness.

1877 Retires. 'On Saturday evening last, the 15th inst., about 100 of the heads of departments, foremen, and employes of the Barrow Hematite Steel Works met at the Ambrose Hotel to present a valuable testimonial to Mr. Murdock on his retirement from the post of assistant-manager.'[3]

1881 The Engineer refers to a model of Trevithick's 1784 machine, the property of Mr. Murdock, manager of the Sun Foundry, Leeds, and (incorrectly) describes him as grandson of William Murdock.[5]
