WILLIAM MACDONALD MATTHEWS, born in Sydney, New South Wales, 17th January, 1851, died in London 23rd April, 1916.

He was trained (1868-73) on the North Staffordshire Railway and under Mr. John Palmer, M.Inst.C.E., and for some years practised privately in Westminster.

He was elected an Associate Member 6th March, 1877.
