1848 Appointment. 'The Queen has been pleased to appoint the Honourable William Napier to be Clerk of the Works and Civil Engineer for the island of Hong Kong.'[1]

1854 Married Louisa Mary Lloyd in London[2]

1862 A paper mill was built at Dartford Creek by Easton, Amos and Sons for the Hon. William Napier.
