William Smith was a paper stock, metal and general merchant. Home address: 78 Gregson St Everton.

1881 Listed as William Smith, Marine Store Dealer at 61-63 Norfolk Street. He also repaired and mended sacks etc.

Smith's premises in Norfolk Street started in 1881 a 4-storey warehouse. In 1882 a 2-storey extension was built along Simpson Street and what was the lower part of Brick Street. W

1885 Smith became bankrupt, while living in apartments at 30 Great George Square.

Fortunately the warehouse was saved from demolition, and the facade has been preserved, thanks to the action of Baltic Creative CIC.
