c1821 Born at Downham, son of Francis Tingey, a farmer[1]

1841 William Tingey 20, silverworker, lived in Ely with Sarah Tingey 20, Elizabeth Tingey 8 Months[2] (Unsure whether this is the same person)

1842 A pawnbroker, when he married Elizabeth Scarrott in Soho, London[3]

1851 Living at 312 Regent Street, Marylebone (age 30 born Downham, Norfolk), a Silversmith. With his wife Elizabeth (age 36 born Birmingham) and four daughters and a Son, William. [4]

1856 January: William Tingey of Tottenham Court Road, a Warehouseman, declared bankrupt [5]

1856 November: The certificate of bankruptcy was suspended for 12 months and then would be allowed of the third class; Tingey was by then also of Richmond, in the county of Surrey, and also of Portland-terrace, Notting-hill, in the said county of Middlesex, Baker, Dealer and Chapman[6]

1861 Living at St. Pancras (age 40 born Downham, Cambridgeshire), a Warehouseman. With his wife Elizabeth (age 42 born Birmingham) and his son William Tingey (age 15 born London). Also other children, a visitor and two servants. [7]

1862 Tingey was one of the trustees of David Allan Ramsay, of No. 3, Canal Road, Kings-land Road, in the county of Middlesex, and of Frindsbury, near Rochester, in the county of Kent, Cement Manufacturer, in his bankruptcy[8]

1871 Living at 4 New Vanbrugh Terrace, Greenwich (age 50 born Downham), a General Manufacturer. With his wife Elizabeth (age 56 born Birmingham) and their daughter Florence (age 20 born St Pancras). Also his sister Mary Ann Paul (age 40 born Cambridge). Plus two servants. [9]

1873 A widower, gentleman, when he married Alice Mary Wolff in Camden[10]

1881 A visitor at 23 Marine Parade, Brighton (age 60 born Downham), a Cement Manufacturer. Also Alice M. Tingey (age 35 born London). [11]

1891 Living at West Hall, 3 Sunnyside, Milton, Gravesend (age 70 born Downham), a Cement Manufacturer and Employer. With his wife Alice M. (age 40 born London) and his daughter Florence A. (age 40 born London). Plus two servants. [12]

1901 Living at Windmill Street, 3 Sunnyside, Milton, Gravesend (age 80 born Downham), a Retired Cement Manufacturer. With his wife Alice M. (age 56 born London) and his daughter Florence A. (age 50 born London). Plus two servants. [13]
