Captain WILSON STORY CARR received his technical education at Durham College of Science.
In 1889 he became an articled premium pupil at the works of Messrs. J. H. Holmes and Company of Newcastle upon Tyne, and served until 1893, when he became junior superintending engineer on electrical installations carried out by the firm.
He joined Messrs. Siemens Brothers and Company, Ltd., two years later and carried out tests on electrical machinery and steam plant at their central station, and was subsequently engaged at their Westminster office upon the preparation of estimates.
In 1898 he was appointed manager and engineer of the power department of the British Thomson-Houston Company, and in 1900 he went into business on his own account as a consulting electrical engineer. Among other firms, his services were retained by the North Eastern Marine Engineering Company, and at a later date he became associated with Messrs. Vickers, Maxim and Company.
In August 1914 he rejoined his old territorial regiment and served in France until 1915, when he was drafted to Mesopotamia. Later he was invalided to India; after his return to England, continued ill health debarred him from full-time professional work, although for some time he represented Messrs. Stothert and Pitt, of Bath.
His death occurred at Kendal on 23rd January 1935.
He was born in 1872 and had been a Member of the Institution since 1903; he was also a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.
