1881 John Jordan Wilson was a Ships Compass Maker employing 2 Men & 4 Boys[1]

1885 John Wilson Gillie went into business, as magnetic compass and nautical instrument makers, in North Shields. Throughout his career, John Wilson Gillie patented many improvements to the magnetic compass and binnacle.

1900 John Jordan Wilson and John Wilson Gillie, carrying on business as Nautical Instrument Makers, Compass Adjusters and Chart Book Sellers at New Quay North Shields in the County of Northumberland, under the style or firm of Wilson and Gillie; the partnership was dissolved[2]. John Wilson Gillie would carry on the said business under the above style.

1913 Amalgamated with John Lilley and Son (see history and background)

1943 John Lilley and Son and Wilson and Gillie, which had already amalgamated, were renamed John Lilley and Gillie.
