Windsor Bridge, Bath

From Graces Guide
The former gasworks bridge, 2017. 1980 road bridge immediately behind.

This entry currently covers two bridges.

Windsor Bridge Road is carried over the River Avon by a modern steel box girder bridge.

Immediately alongside is a redundant bowed lattice girder bridge which carries a gas pipe between the northern and southern parts of the now-demolished Bath Gas Works. It is currently (2022) threatened with demolition. For discussion see here. It occupies the site of the 1837 Twerton Bridge, designed by Thomas Motley, removed by 1894.
