Zaltbommel Railway Bridge (NL)

From Graces Guide

Also known as the Dr. W. Hupkesbrug.

Crosses the River Waal in the Netherlands.

Three riveted spans of 124m and eight of 60m. Designed by Gerrit van Diesen.[1]

The bridge was constructed between 1865 and 1869, apparently for a single track only. It was doubled at some point. It was badly damaged in the Second World War, and was subsequently rebuilt. There are differences in the construction of the trusses, indication a mix of original and replacement steel (and iron?) elements.

The 1993-6 cable-stayed (semi-fan system) Martinus Nijhoffbrug road bridge is upstream.
