Gottfried Heinrich Gerber was a German engineer and inventor who received several patents for his systems for building bridges.
Born 18 November 18 1832 in Hof, Germany.
Died 3 January 3 1912 in Munich.
In 1867 he built the first iron truss cantilever bridges, over the Regnitz at Bamberg and over the River Main Bridge in Haßfurt (Hassfurt). This type of construction became popular worldwide, and for a time was known as the Gerber Beam.
