1929 Died. 'Many in Newton Abbot will learn with regret of the passing of Mr. Benjamin Giles, of Chatterley, Forde Park, at the age of 70. For over twenty years he was the Divisional Locomotive Superintendent of the Great Western Railway at Newton Abbot. A native of Worcester he took up his position with the railway at Newton in 897, subsequently going to Wolverhampton on promotion, but on retiring in 1923 he returned to Newton. Deceased was at one time a member the Newton Hospital Committee and a worker for the Hospital Saturday Committee. The South Devon Cricket Club claimed him as a member, being also associated with Dawlish Warren Golf Club. Benjamin Giles (c1859-1929) of the GWR
Born the son of Benjamin Giles, a Locomotive driver.
