Training: Fairfield and Royal Naval College, Greenwich. App. with [[Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Co|Fairfield Co.]], Glasgow; obtained Admiralty Scholarship, R.N. College, Greenwich; after 3 years' course in N.A. and Mar. Eng., passed out first of year and entered Admiralty Service; 13 years M.R.C.N.C.; part of this time Sec. to Sir Philip Watts and the " Dreadnought " Committee on Designs, and latterly overseeing the building of Battleships at Elswick and Greenock; 1911-17, Gen. Man. and Naval Arch., [[Cammell, Laird and Co]]., Birkenhead; 1917-20, Gen. Man., Naval Aircraft Works, [[Short Brothers]], Bedford. Responsible for building some of the largest Airships constructed in any country. Address: Middle Fens, West Hartlepool.
