1824 Advert: 'Excellent Cotton Machinery and Utensils, Tools, Brass, Iron &c.
TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, by Mr. Goodier, (By order of the Trustees of Mr. Thomas Marriott, at the New Bridge Mills, Water-street, Manchester), ..... ALL the very valuable MACHINERY, part of which is nearly new; comprising two hundred 18 inch carding engines, with bay wood cylinders and cards, six engines, 36 inches each, with working rollers and cards, twenty-two drawing frames, ..... several excellent lathes, one clock-maker's engine, by E. Green. Slide lathe, fluting engine, joiners' benches, turners', filers’, and smiths' tools, bellows and anvils, vices and benches, stocks, dies, and laps, brass, iron, timber, files, nails, and screws. Also, one SMALL STEAM ENGINE, about one horse power, weighing machine, large and small beams, scales and weights, .....'[1]
