1918 Indian Railway Bridge Committee [1]
A Press note states that the Indian Railway Bridge Committee, which head its first meeting in August 1917, will assemble at Simla early in November and sit in the Railway Board's office on the 4th of that month and subsequent days.
The following engineers are being invited to form the committee:—
- Mr. A. A. Biggs, M. Inst., C.E., Chief Engineer Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway.
- Mr. J. Graham, M. Inst. C.E., Bridge Engineer, Great Indian Peninsula Railway.
- Mr. C. W. Lloyd-Jones. A. M. Inst., C.E., Superintendent of Way and Works, Nazam's Guaranteed State Railways.
- Mr. C. W. Anderson, M. Inst. C.E., District Engineer, Bridges, Bengal-Nagpur Railway;
- Mr. W. E. Pincombe. A. M. Inst. C.E., Bridge and Structural Engineer, East Indian Railway.
- Mr. D. H. Ramfry, A. M. Inst., C.E., District Engineer, Bengal-Nagpur Railway.
The Chairman of the Committee Mr. G. Richards, M. Inst. C.E., Chief Engineer with the Railway Board. Mr. H. S. Sales, the Investigating Officer of the Committee, will act as Secretary.
The principal work of the Committee will be the framing of rules for the design and inspection of ferroconcrete and arched masonry railway bridges, but the rules of the Government of Indi a regarding steel girders bridges will also be discussed. As at the last meeting, the Committee will welcome any railway engineers who are interested in those subjects and wish to attend the meeting.
