1933 Russian-born D. D. Prenn arrived in the UK
Prenn set up a number of electrical companies, including a "large loudspeaker manufacturer"[1] (Rola Celestion) and British Communications Corporation Ltd.
1959 D. D. Prenn took a controlling interest in Radio and Television Trust Ltd. It was hoped that British Communications Corporation Ltd would be transferred to Radio and Television Trust because of the close correspondence of its business with that of Airmec.
1962 Radio and Television Trust Ltd, chaired by D.D. Prenn, changed its name to Controls and Communications Ltd[2]. Operating subsidiaries:
- Airmec Ltd
- British Communications Corporation Ltd, which had been acquired from the chairman.
- Thermionic Products (Electronics) Ltd
1966 British Communications Corporation Ltd, of Wembley, received order from the British Army to supply Manpack radios[3].
