1802 Sanctioned on June 26th, 1802 by George III[1] at the instigation of the Monmouthshire Canal company.
The Sirhowy Tramroad was constructed between 1802 and c.1805 and connected Newport, Monmouthshire and Tredegar, Monmouthshire. It was 24 miles long.
1822 The first passenger service began in 1822.
1863 The tramway was converted into a railway; the Sirhowy Tramroad Company became the Sirhowy Railway Company.
1868 Engineer is S. H. Yockney.[2]
