CHARLES ARTHUR WRIGHT was born at Southport on 7th October 1884, and was educated at Lancaster.
In 1900 he began a five-years' apprenticeship with T. Dryden and Sons, Preston, going through the pattern-making, fitting, and turning shops. During this period he also attended evening classes, and gained a Whitworth Exhibition in 1906.
In the latter year he was engaged as assistant draughtsman to Hind and Lund, Ltd., Preston, with whom he remained until 1915, when he entered the Royal Aircraft Factory, Farnborough, as checker in the drawing office, and subsequently he was appointed head of the Weights Department.
His death took place on 17th December 1920, at the age of thirty-six.
He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1917.
