Charles Sanderson (1803-1873), the second son of [[John Sanderson (of Sheffield)|John Sanderson]] of [[Sanderson Brothers and Co]], had his own steel works in Sharrow Vale. He patented many inventions relating to metal manufacture, and according to Fischer, was an able mineralogist.
