WILLIAM LAURENCE WOODCOCK, whose untimely death occurred on 6th July 1937, in his thirty-first year, was director of the Phoenix Foundry of Messrs. W. Woodcock, Sons and Company, Ltd., St. Helens, in which town he also received his general and technical education.
From 1925 to 1930 he served his apprenticeship at the Phoenix Foundry, with which he was connected for the remainder of his life. In the latter year he was made acting foreman in the machine shop, and shortly afterwards he became assistant works manager.
