ARTHUR WILLIAM WALLER was born in 1900 and received his education at the Beaufoy Technical Institute, Lambeth, where he obtained an engineering scholarship. On the completion of a six years' apprenticeship with [[Arnold Goodwin and Sons|Messrs. Arnold Goodwin and Son, Ltd.]], of Southwark, in 1922, he joined the [[Pulsometer Engineering Co|Pulsometer Engineering Company]], at Reading, as section leader draughtsman, and held that position until 1934, when he took up a similar post with [[W. H. Allen, Sons and Co|Messrs. W. H. Allen, Sons, and Company, Ltd.]], of Bedford, for whom he was employed on the design of heavy pumps and gears during the next two years. | |||

ARTHUR WILLIAM WALLER was born in 1900 and received his education at the Beaufoy Technical Institute, Lambeth, where he obtained an engineering scholarship. On the completion of a six years' apprenticeship with Messrs. Arnold Goodwin and Son, Ltd., of Southwark, in 1922, he joined the Pulsometer Engineering Company, at Reading, as section leader draughtsman, and held that position until 1934, when he took up a similar post with Messrs. W. H. Allen, Sons, and Company, Ltd., of Bedford, for whom he was employed on the design of heavy pumps and gears during the next two years.
