Henry Shull Arms (Fellow) died on Aug 6, aged 60. A graduate of the University of Idaho he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford where he took an honours degree in physics. Subsequently he was awarded a doctorate for research in low-temperature physics and was also appointed to the academic staff at Oxford. He was later awarded an honorary doctorate of science by the University of Idaho. | |||
During the war Dr Arms undertook research into the uses of nuclear energy and from 1945-46 worked at the Chalk River Atomic Plant in Canada. He returned to England to become Head of the Engineering Laboratories at Harwell. | |||

Henry Shull Arms (Fellow) died on Aug 6, aged 60. A graduate of the University of Idaho he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford where he took an honours degree in physics. Subsequently he was awarded a doctorate for research in low-temperature physics and was also appointed to the academic staff at Oxford. He was later awarded an honorary doctorate of science by the University of Idaho.
