Major HAROLD LENTON BROZYNA, B.Sc., R.A.O.C., was educated at King Edward's School and at the University of Birmingham, where he graduated B.Sc. in engineering in 1931. He served his apprenticeship during his college vacations with the Austin Motor Company, Ltd., and on the termination of his studies served a further period of twelve months with the Northern Aluminium Company, of Smethwick.
His first appointment was as assistant to the chief research engineer of the Austin Motor Company and was employed on the development of designs and testing of materials. In 1934 he was gazetted to the R.A.O.C. with the rank of lieutenant and was stationed at Aldershot until January 1938 when he was appointed to the Kirkee Arsenal in India as inspecting ordnance mechanical engineer, his duties including the inspection of all field artillery as well as signalling and optical instruments.
Major Brozyna, whose death on active service in February 1942 cut short a career full of promise, at the early age of 32, was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1935 and was transferred to Associate Membership in 1939.
