JULES GOUJON, who was a distinguished member of the Iron and Steel Institute, is reported to have been killed near Yalta, in the Crimea, early in 1919.
He was born in France and was a descendant of the celebrated sculptor of the same name. His father emigrated to Russia many years ago and became the owner of large textile works in Moscow and Petrograd.
On the death of his father he succeeded to the family interests and considerably extended the textile works, besides acquiring interests in a number of Franco-Russian companies engaged in the manufacture of iron and steel, upon the board of many of which he served as a director.
He took a keen interest in the scientific progress of the industry and was a constant attendant at meetings of the Iron and Steel Institute, of which he was elected a member in 1905.
