FRANCIS W. GILBERTSON, B.A., of Pontardawe, died suddenly on October 8, 1929, at the age of fifty-six.
He was well known in the Welsh steel and tinplate industry. He was chairman and managing director of Messrs. W. Gilbertson & Co., Ltd., a director of the Great Western Railway Company, and vice-chairman of the Federation of British Industries.
He played a large part in the foundation of University College, Swansea, and was its first president. During the war he rendered valuable service to the Ministry of Munitions.
