Ailsa were based in Irvine near the island of Ailsa Craig.

  • 1967 the company was set up to import Volvo trucks into the UK.
  • 1971 the Ailsa bus company was started. It firstly imported B58 coach chassis into the UK.
  • 1980 the MARK III was launched the Volvo rear axle was substituted.
  • They were a major supplier to Scottish Bus Group.
  • The last model that Ailsa produced was the Citybus.
  • 1983 the Citybus was sold as a Volvo.
  • 1985 Ailsa production stopped.
