Established in 1852 by W. A. Sparrow, who was joined in partnership by A. E. Bidmead. in 1887, trading as "W. A. Sparrow."
In 1894 W. A. Sparrow retired, the business being continued as W. A. Sparrow & Co." by A. E. Bidmead, present proprietor, who took his son, A. P. Bidmead, into partnership as from 1st January, 1907.
