1905 Died. 'With much regret we announce the death of Mr. William Cantrell, which took place at his residence. 57 Bromham-road. Bedford, early on Wednesday morning, after an illness of about a fortnight’s duration. He was for many years Engineer of Way and Works of the Railway Department of Ceylon, where all the railways belong to the Government, and have been rapidly developing, Mr. Cantrell lived very arduous life, and very good service for the Government connection with the railways of Ceylon, where was very popular and highly respected. It is only about two years since he retired, but his family have resided at Bedford for several years, as four sons have been educated in the Bedford Grammar School, viz.. A. S. Cantrell, of H.M.S. “Glory,” with the China Squadron, H. M. Cantrell, who is in the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank. London: J. H. M. Cantrell, of Wana, Rajah, Dikoya, Ceylon; and W. C. Cantrell, who is engaged in railway work at Yamethin. Burmah; he lately came home to be married, and returned. One the daughters, who was married last summer, was formerly mistress in the Preparatory Department of the Grammar School.
