Thomas Edmondson (1792-1851) was the inventor of the card-based printed railway ticket system
Started work for Gillows and in 1936 joined the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway as station master at Milton.
He later moved to Manchester and set up a business printing tickets and making the machinery for doing this.
