"Prof. J. H. Neal, WhEx (Member), formerly Professor ©f Mechanical Engineering at the University of Natal, died on 13th September at the age of 80. He was always deeply interested in education and training, and during the years 1914-22 he was Head of the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Dept of Natal Technical College. While in this position he equipped new laboratories, organised apprentice classes and a scheme for training ex-service men in engineering. | |||
An old friend of the Institution, Professor Neal was our correspondent in Natal. His death has caused great sorrow to his many friends and colleagues, who in the past have benefited a great deal from his kind-hearted advice and good humour." | |||

"Prof. J. H. Neal, WhEx (Member), formerly Professor ©f Mechanical Engineering at the University of Natal, died on 13th September at the age of 80. He was always deeply interested in education and training, and during the years 1914-22 he was Head of the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Dept of Natal Technical College. While in this position he equipped new laboratories, organised apprentice classes and a scheme for training ex-service men in engineering.
