1963 Acquired a printing company. Name changed to Midland and Northern Counties Investments, with a view to developing a conglomerate[2]
1965 Interests included printing, teenage fashion and pharmaceuticals[3].
1965 Midland and Northern Counties Investments acquired the other Matchan companies, Cope Allman and Co, Harper Engineering and Electronics and the "rump" of J. W. Young and Sons, putting them into a new company Cope Allman International, largely for tax reasons[4].
